Camping with the Edgars

We went camping with some friends this weekend at Kelly Dahl Campground near Nederland. It was a beautiful spot, and we had great weather. We hiked at Brainard Lake on Saturday and went to the Carousel of Happiness in Nederland. Good friends, good food, a good time.

Bird Brain

Now I understand the phrase, "bird brain." Although this bird has a very pretty hairdo, something is missing from his gray matter. He tried to peck Spencer's shoe through the glass at least a hundred times. The poor birdie probably has a massive headache tonight. But then again, maybe if you don't have any brains, you can't get a headache.

Zoo Day

Eva's evidently quite concerned about something regarding the sea sponges.

The kids didn't seem to mind that the bronze hippo was about 150 degrees. It was hot!
I looked at all those moms with their big strollers and diaper bags. It seemed to me that they were lugging more objects around the zoo than the Martin Handcart Company lugged across the plains. And I remember lugging that much stuff around this very zoo. My how things change! Today I carried my own lunch, and the kids carried theirs. Except when I gave in to their pleas, of course.

Bobblehead, the Dragonfly

The elders helped us pin a dragonfly specimen to a piece of cardboard. For science.
See that blur-of-a-book? Eva can check out books at the speed of sound. Watch out, Librarians.

Ice Skating

Scott, what was that you were saying about Emily's desire for an audience?

A Teenager!

Rebecca turned 13 on Friday the 13th, and nothing terrible happened. In fact, I think she had fun. She saved her official party for Saturday so it could be longer and Dad and Grandma and Grandpa could be there, but she still managed to stay up until 11:00 with her friends.
We went ice skating and then came back to the house for taco salad and cheesecake. Yum. Here are some pictures from the festivities. It looks like they didn't have any fun, doesn't it.

Silly Hair

Bec picked up some new hair styling techniques at Girls' Camp. What do you think?

Girls' Camp Questions

It was sad to miss the Terry Family Reunion this past week.
We've never missed one before.
Hopefully, we won't have to miss one again.
Here's what Rebecca and I did.
Girls Camp!

I was asked many interesting questions at camp. Here are some of them:
What do boys talk about around the camp fire?
Does this look like poison oak?
Would you like me to roast a Starburst for you on the camp fire?
Do you think my mom's going to kill me when I tell her I broke my glasses?
Sister Terry, why are you so small?
Why aren't there many women in the Book of Mormon?
Can we have ice cream for breakfast?
Will you paint my fingernails?
Did global warming really make the pine beetles kill the trees?
Do we have to go home today?
