Summertime, and the livin' is easy

This is what happens when you cook chicken in a glass pan, take it out of the oven, and neglect to supervise the innocent passerby who drops an ice cube into the pan "to see what happens." It explodes with a loud popping noise. Glass shoots all over the kitchen, and everyone screams. Do not try this at home.
These are Spencer's recreations of Wall-E, Eve, and M-O. Eva helped.
The Terrys and Tenaglias had a recital recently. It was a lovely evening of music, cake, pie, and conversation.
I don't know why I never thought of this when I was a kid. If it gets too hot while you're playing outside, just run an extension cord from the house to a window fan strategically placed near the sidewalk where you've set up your toys.

Water slides and The Feminine Mystique

Betty Friedan's The Feminine Mystique was published the year this house was built, so it only seems appropriate...
This is one of the water slides at the Paul Derda Rec Center. The kids LOVE the Paul Derda Rec Center.
Spencer coming in for landing!
COVA field day. We were only 45 minutes late because I couldn't find the park.

Happy Birthday, Eva!

Eva is 7 years old today! Yesterday was a very fun day. She had her first day of T-ball in the morning and her party in the afternoon. T-ball is a joint effort. Eva is on the team, and the coaching staff consists of her mom, her dad, her sister, and her brother.
To set the stage, we started by reading The Egyptian Cinderella.
Drawing hieroglyphics on a cave wall. They were really into drawing sheep.
Our version of an Egyptian pyramid
Barbie mummies.
The embalming and wrapping of Barbie mummies.
