Eva lost her first tooth! We were all beginning to wonder if it would ever happen. At her last checkup, the dentist said that if she didn't have a loose tooth within 6 months, we'd need to get some special x-rays to find out if she had any adult teeth. Last week, I overheard Eva talking with one of her 7-year-old friends. The friend said, "You haven't lost any teeth? I've lost nine!" Eva hung her head low and said, "Everybody says that." But lo and behold, on October 13, 2009, Eva lost a tooth! I've never seen a kid so proud of a tooth before.

Late September
We didn't quite satisfy our appetite for destruction when we had the driveway replaced, so we decided to replace the main sewer line this week. Last Saturday, we meticulously trimmed the hedges and pulled tiny tree suckers; three days later, our front yard looked like this:
And, as an additional postscript, H1N1 hit our house this week. Rebecca is the only family member who hasn't grown a pig snout at this point.

Broomfield Days
Last September, our Cubs drew up plans for a go-cart. They wanted to build one to ride in the Broomfield Days Parade. They worked on it all year long, and the parade was yesterday! They pushed this thing for a mile and a half, and they were pretty wiped out by the end, but they did great.
While the boys stole the show, Rebecca and her friend had a snack stand. They were very good little entrepreneurs. The hard part now is deciding what to do with their cash.

Getting Back to Normal
We bought a house in the neighborhood at the end of July. We remodeled it and moved in at the end of August. It's been utter mayhem at times, but we're finally getting back to normal.
Spencer and Eva stand in front of the new driveway. Our only blemishes on the new driveway are the mailman's footprints.
